"Fleur", 36 X 36, acrylic on canvas, is the start of my new painting collection that I am exploring inspired by floral images. My background in botanical illustration and gardening leads me to constantly delight in the wonder of flowers. I am having fun abstracting and deconstructing these images.
I have just finished this abstract painting, "Moon Shadow", 36 X 36, acrylic/ mixed media. Close up this painting is full of subtle color shifts and lots of textures and line. This reminds me of looking up at the night sky with all the sparkles and nocturnal fairies and fireflies darting around.

Vero Beach Art Club held the INSPIRED WORKS exhibit at the Art Club Annex & Gallery from December 15, 2022 TO January 27, 2023. My Plein air painting "Happy Retirement" was awarded 1st place for oil painting. The image is of the beloved Seaside Grill in Jaycee Beach on the barrier island in Vero Beach, Indian River Shores. This was the last day the former owners were open for business before they retired after 30 years in business.
"Happy Retirement", 11 X !4, oil on linen panel
In July 2022 I joined Workshops in France for a Plein air painting retreat near Ballater, Scotland while staying at the beautiful Glen Muick estate. We painted at the Balmoral Castle which is on the neighboring property to the estate. Some of the other painting sites were Dunnottar Castle ruins perched on the cliffs above the North Sea. I came close to blowing over the cliff, easel and all, by the wind gusts.. After we also painted at the harbor in the picturesque fishing village of Stonehaven.
This painting was done en Plein air at the gardener's cottage at Balmoral. The garden at Balmoral was the pride and joy of the queen who passed away just a few months after this painting was made. The castle is just down this path and around the corner beyond the trees you see above the cottage.
I fell in love with Scotland and the friendly and cheerful people. Edinburgh was a treat. It is like living in a Harry Potter movie.
